Homemade Puri Recipe: Crispy Deep-Fried Indian Bread with Purti Rizola Rice Bran Oil

Indulge in the joy of making and savoring homemade puris, a beloved Indian bread. When deep-fried to perfection with Purti Rizola Rice Bran Oil, they become irresistibly crispy. This recipe yields approximately 15 puris and takes about 45 minutes from start to finish.

Ingredients:

– 2 cups whole wheat flour

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 2 tablespoons Purti Rizola Rice Bran Oil, plus extra for frying

– Water, as needed

– Extra flour for rolling

Instructions:

Preparation (15 minutes):

1) In a spacious mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of whole wheat flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

2) Add 2 tablespoons of Purti Rizola Rice Bran Oil into the flour mixture.

3) Gradually pour in water while kneading the mixture to form a firm and smooth dough. Avoid making it too soft; a slightly stiff dough is ideal.

4) Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.

Shaping and Frying (25 minutes):

1) Once the dough has rested, portion it into small balls about the size of a lemon.

2) Heat a deep frying pan or kadhai with Purti Rizola Rice Bran Oil over medium heat. It should be about 2-3 inches deep.

3) Select a dough ball and gently roll it between your hands to form a smooth, round shape.

4) Gently flatten the ball with your fingers to form a small disc.

5) Roll out the disc into a circular puri using a touch of extra flour to prevent sticking. Aim for a 4-5 inch diameter.

6) To check if the oil is sufficiently hot, place a small piece of dough into it. If it sizzles and rises to the surface, the oil is at the right temperature.

7) Carefully slide the rolled puri into the hot oil using a slotted spoon.

8) Press down gently on the puri with the back of the spoon as it puffs up. This helps it puff uniformly.

9) Fry until the puri becomes golden brown and puffy on both sides, flipping it once. This should take approximately 2-3 minutes per puri.

10) Use the slotted spoon to remove the fried puri from the oil, allowing excess oil to drain on paper towels.

11) Repeat these steps for the remaining dough balls.

Serving (5 minutes):

Serve the hot and crispy puris immediately. They are a delightful accompaniment to various curries, chutneys, or simply enjoy them on their own.

Relish the joy of creating and savoring homemade puris, each one crispy, golden brown, and fried to perfection using Purti Rizola Rice Bran Oil. Invite your dear ones to savor this delightful culinary adventure together!
