The significance of ghee or clarified butter cannot be emphasized enough in the Indian culture. Ghee is considered to be a power food containing omega-3fatty acids, vitamin A, butyric acid and healthy fats. From using in food to enhance its quality, to light mud lamps or diyas and in performing auspicious rituals, ghee is an inseparable part of Indian culture as well as Ayurveda.

Ghee has other uses too. It plays a significant part in skin and hair care. Ghee nourishes hair, making it shinier, softer and healthier than ever before, from both inside as well as outside.

Here are some of the benefits and ways to use ghee for hair:

For dull and dry hair

The high moisturising and nourishing properties of ghee can give you silky and shiny hair. The rich fatty acids and some healthy vitamins such as vitamin and Vitamin D found in ghee nourishes the scalp and hair follicles from within to give a boost of hydration, restoring hair’s health.

Improving hair texture

Applying ghee directly onto the hair and scalp can improve the texture with extra smoothness and shine. Heat a spoonful of ghee and let it melt and then gently apply it on your hair and scalp. Let it sit for a few hours and then wash it with shampoo.

For deep conditioning your hair

Ghee can be also be used as an overnight mask treatment for hair. You need to leave the ghee on your hair overnight and seal it with shower cap in order to avoid any mess. Ghee has antioxidants and vitamin E which helps in avoiding breakage of hair.

Promotes hair growth

Ghee can be used in replacement of oil. Instead of oil, use 1-2 tablespoons of warm ghee and massage it well in your scalp. It will help in blood circulation and reduce hair fall, leaving it well-nourished.
